Financial Firm Increases IAM Security and Transparency

      The Challenge

To be audit-ready and more secure in its identity and access management (IAM) environments, a large financial services organization sought to update and upgrade its IAM program. The firm wanted to integrate and automate processes for identity management, user privileges and access management controls. Transparency across the spectrum was also necessary to enable comprehensive reporting for regulatory compliance.

      Our Approach

After analyzing the company’s IAM environment, Cognizant's banking technology solutions experts proposed migrating applications to a unified, customized solution built on SailPoint 7.0 with integrated single sign-on capabilities that had yet to be implemented in the financial services industry.

The cybersecurity solution initiative included building custom reporting capabilities, simplifying naming conventions, creating rules for privileges and access, integrating automation and simplifying the offboarding process. This created transparency across the business and made documentation of the entire IAM lifecycle easily available for reporting—avoiding potentially costly efforts to gather data from disparate systems in the event of an audit. It also enabled faster onboarding of new resources and more efficient offboarding as identities were removed.

      Speeding Migration, Reducing Costs

Through a combination of automation and customization, the company’s IAM environment has been quickly optimized and its transparency increased, creating a secure, auditable environment.
